This past Sunday, I had the complete pleasure of co-hosting an afternoon tea party for a dear friend's bridal shower. Alongside some spectacular bridesmaids and family, we were able to throw together one hell of a party - filled with custom made tea blends, hand crafted decorations, and delicious treats and sandwiches (including gluten and dairy free options for the lovely bride). A cookie bar was even included with doggy bags to enjoy some of your favourite treats at home. I made sure to fill the tables with fresh flowers, a collection of vases and eclectic frames, showcasing beautifully hand made Japanese paper from one of my favourite shops in Toronto. The maid of honour had the brilliant idea of covering the parameter of the visually unappealing room with a white picket fence and white balloons. I made a bunting of flags and photos of the bride at different ages (perfect for a game of guessing the bride's age). We covered the focal wall behind the sofa (and bride's seat) with lattice and using the same remarkable Japanese paper, made these playful flowers and bunting sign - a perfect backdrop for taking photos. Completed with handcrafted favours of lace printed linen envelopes filled with samples of our home made tea blends, I am certain our tea party was a hit for all who attended. Once the room filled with laughter and admiration for the bride, I knew we accomplished celebrating a summer's day right in the middle of winter with our garden tea party!
